Principals of Our Firm:

Rick C. Berning, CPA/ABV, CBA, CVA, CFP, CMA. In 1997, with more than ten years of prior experience, Rick formed our predecessor company (Berning & Berning, Ltd.) His litigation support experience includes extensive work in the divorce area, including involvement in more than 1,000 divorce proceedings. Rick’s work in the divorce area includes business valuations, spousal maintenance calculations, tax consulting, non-marital tracing and frequent expert witness testimony.

John H. Heidebrecht, ASA, CFE, CAC, MBA. John was previously the Manager of the Valuation and Litigation Support Groups of two larger local and regional CPA firms. He has fourteen years of specialization in commercial and marital dissolution litigation support, having provided expert testimony and functioning as the court-appointed neutral expert on several occasions. John’s appraisal experience includes the valuation of intangible assets and private companies in numerous industries with annual revenues ranging from $0 (startup) to more than $1 billion. His litigation support experience includes high profile non-marital tracing and property settlement cases, as well as complex damages calculations and lost profit analyses. John’s practice also includes compensation studies, purchase price allocation and goodwill impairment analysis.
